Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that, as those that are of the family of Christ, as those that have learned Christ, we are not to walk as other Gentiles walk in the emptiness of their mind, but we are to walk in the righteousness of God as those whose mind are enlightened with the knowledge of the Son of God.

Then the apostle continues;

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; Ephesians 4:22

This is a very strong exhortation. “That ye put off concerning the former conversation.”

The apostle looks at them as regenerated sons of God, thus their former way of living ought to be put aside. By saying “former” he affirms they are already created in Christ Jesus.

Now who are they to put off? We hear “the old man” the depraved nature we inherited from the womb as sons of Adam. We all are naturally born with this fallen nature, until we receive the nature of the second man called the Christ.

We are born after the flesh sinners because of the old man we inherited from the womb. A man fashioned in sin who by the fall lost his innocence and became “corrupt according to the deceitful lusts”

Now observe carefully the last part of the verse “deceitful lust”

This is saying all the passions, the propensities that the world offer, all the promises of a better life, a true satisfaction, a glorious estate are just vain promises. All what the world offers outside of Christ is deception.

Whatsoever pleasure the world promises is illusive. It is a plunge to ruin. Many follow a promised better life but end up in blunt betrayal.

The passions of the world are mere flatteries orchestrated for betrayal. As the enlightened, we are not to yield to these vanities, we are not to be led astray by these empty deceits.

Then we hear the apostle continue;

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; Ephesians 4:23

Let your mind be renovated. Let your soul be renewed after your new nature. Let your character be reformed after the image of him who created you. It is not just enough to be regenerated, the end cause is that we be confirmed to the image of his son. For this reason you were saved.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Romans 8:29

God lives in you, he is the one you have be fashioned after. But your mind and body needs a conformation to your new spiritual state. Your spirit is created perfect, which we are to always put on.

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:24

Observe carefully the above verse, it says “put on the new man”

This means the new man is accessible by you. And who is the new man? Your very nature, the spirit of Christ in you. This is your regenerated self. The real you. Let it manifest in your soul, and body. Put the light on!

You see, that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:6

If you are born of the Spirit then you are spirit. You are spirit, having a soul and living in a body. If the real you is the spirit, then how are you created?

We hear ” which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

You are created righteous and truly holy. You are righteous by nature. You are righteous and holy by creation, and not by what you will do or have done. You are born again righteous.

If you are created by God a man then you will always be a man by creation. Even so are you. You are created after God, you are created exactly like God, you are created in every aspect according to God in righteousness and true holiness.

Where the old you was fashioned in sin (Psalm 51:5), the new you is fashioned in righteousness and true holiness. You can not help but be righteous for this is how you were created. You are by nature righteous and truly holy.

This same truth is expressed by the apostle in his letter to the church at Corinth.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

Observe carefully the word “made” from the above verse. The Greek word translated for made is the word ginomai which means to cause to be, to generate, to become, to come into being (Strong’s G1096).

Observe again the words used in the definition, to generate, and to come into being.

In Christ we are generated righteous. We are brought into being or existence righteous and truly holy.

We are skunked when we consent to a religious calumny about who we are. Every conceited importunity to seek for what we already are is a demonic shenanigan.

So here is a wise exhortation by Paul to let your life and nature that is created in God come forth. wear in your consciousness who you truly are and let the world see and experience the righteousness and holiness of God flowing through you. Turn on the lights O’ righteous and truly holy one!

Confession:
I am a new creation. Born again righteous. I am truly holy. The righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The light of the world in Christ. A chosen generation. I am a royal priesthood. I am a divine species. A peculiar people.

A living manifestation of the righteousness and holiness of God. I am conscious of who God has made me. I know who God says I am. I put on the new man, bold and fearless.

I cannot be deceived. I walk in the wisdom and power of God. Doing mighty works that are only synonymous with who I am in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

Prophetic Insight:
I heard “I have not left you, so do not think I AM unconcerned. My word is coming into being. Yes, the fire, but it is for purification.

Not a single hair on your head shall be lost as you stay focused looking to me. Soon it will be over and you will be restored.

Your head will surely be lifted up above your enemies. You will surely enjoy the days of prosperity”

Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him. The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free. He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance: Psalms 105:19-21

Discovering Christ In Ephesians.

We saw from our last discussion that, we are to grow up walking in love by speaking the truth, manifesting our reality in Christ in all things, a place where we grow up into the manifestation of his life and nature in every aspect of our lives. Here, we all function in God’s plan by supplying our quota to one another which fosters the nourishment and increase of the entire Body of Christ.

Then we hear the apostle continue,

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Ephesians 4:17

Observe carefully this statement “This I say therefore,” a statement expressing his conclusion on the subject discussed before of these Ephesians growing up into the full stature of Christ.

Then he gives to them an assertion “and I testify in the Lord,” or rather an exhortation on the basis of their reality in Christ to “henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk.”

When a man is renewed by the Spirit of Christ, his manner of life seizes to spring from his former animal nature. He becomes a living expression of the life and nature of God.

Where he used to walk in sin, obeying the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, he now turns around, for he becomes subject to the law of God. The Law of the Spirit of life in him subdues the law of sin and death.

The Spirit vitalizes his mortal flesh, giving him the power to respond to his holy influences.

So the apostle implores these believers, knowing what has been wrought in them, knowing they have come to the knowledge of the son of God, to walk in the newness of life and not like “others Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.”

Without the knowledge of the son Of God our thoughts are futile. All unbelievers carry in them a mind that is not subject to the law of God.

The word used for vanity above does not just mean emptiness, but it means they are incapable of thinking anything of spiritual significance. They cannot spiritually utilize their minds, their minds are transient and morally depraved (Strong Concordance G3153).

But unto us, we have the mind of Christ in which there is no corruption (1Corithans 2:16).

Hence, we are to put this on, walking in the life of God. For we hear of the unbelievers;

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Ephesians 4:18

Psychology, philosophy and vain reasoning have darkened their understanding of the true God. Today all men outside of Christ are “alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them”

Complete aliens when it comes to the life of God. We are mere creatures, natural men, without hop and without God in the world, until we come to Christ then are we known of God ( Galatians 4:9).

The moment Adam rejected the tree of life and chose the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, his entire posterity was cut off from the supply of the life of God.

God was supplying his life to Adam under a conditional contract, that he would not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

The moment he did, he lost his nature of innocence, and the devil became his father being alienated from the supply of God’s life.

This is why we must hate even the garment spotted with sin, we have a new father, we don’t want to be labelled after the old. The unbeliever is ignorant because the fall brought about total spiritual blindness to natural men.

Unbelievers walk in the vanity of their mind, obeying sinful passions “because of the blindness of their heart.” We hear;

Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. Ephesians 4:19

There is nothing in the heart of the unbeliever to withhold him from evil except through divine Providence. In of himself, he is vain, with no conscience, past feeling and a slave to lasciviousness, walking all “uncleanness with greediness.”

But ye have not so learned Christ;Ephesians 4:20

Thou beloved art different, you have not learned a Christ of unrighteousness, but the Christ who is the expression of the righteousness of God.

Observe carefully the statement “learned Christ.” Christianity is the study of Christ. When a man builds his house upon this knowledge, come rain, come storms, he remains unshakable.

When you truly know Christ who is the grace of God, sin looses its power over you, sickness and disease goes, greed goes, bitterness goes, fear goes, depression cannot stand before the knowledge of God.

Knowing Christ is knowing joy, prosperity, peace, righteousness, holiness, kindness, wisdom, understanding, health, love, happiness, oh, I can go on and on. He is the glories of God.

So the evidence that you have learned Christ is that his life ought to be emanating from you, which is what our online Mentorship School: Grace Bible College has been created to help many in the Body of Christ to achieve.

As true believers, we hear him, are taught by him, and dwell in the truth.

If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: Ephesians 4:21

When you have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in him you, you will walk in the truth.

Confession:

Gracious father, I bless you for your faithfulness. Thank you for bringing me into the knowledge of your son. I have been liberated from a walk in darkness to a glorious walk in the Lord. I dwell in the truth. I walk in the truth.

By the power of Christ in me, I reject every unfruitful walk of darkness. I declare, I walk in righteousness and holiness. I proclaim, I have the mind of Christ.

I have heard and I learned Christ, therefore I do not walk in vanity as other Gentiles, but as the righteousness of God in Christ, my steps are ordered by the Lord! Glory to Jesus, Amen.

Prophetic Insight:
In an encounter of the Lord. I saw a prophetic picture of someone stuck in this very difficult situation, I saw a Child of God amongst cops that were surrounded by very aggressive militants. These militants fought them, overpowered them and besieged them in a building.

Now this Child of God thought within, if I stay in this building, we are outnumbered and overpowered, I can be killed at anytime, if I should walk out of this building, they may not shoot at me, they may look at me as just a regular citizen and may ignore me.

But from another look, if I should walk out of here, they may immediately consider me as partnering with the cops and may immediately shoot me dead.

As these thoughts ran through the mind of this beloved, finally this child of God decided to walk out of the building.

Coming out I was led to a prophetic similitude in the story of the four leprous men in the days of Elijah.

And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die? If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die. And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there. 2 Kings 7:3-5

Then the Lord said “This is not the end. I AM with you in this battle, and my victory is yours. What you see as a risk is actually a breakthrough route for you.

I have made a way for you, as you dare to believe me, as you dare to step out in faith towards all I have put in your heart to do, You are encountering my superabundant goodness in a way you have never imagined.”

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that it is God’s will for us to be doctrinally matured in the knowledge of his son, where we shall all be united in our faith in him, holding unto Christ as the substance of the things of God. Here we shall no longer be tossed to and fro by cunningly crafted doctrines of men, who lie in wait to deceive.

Then the apostle continues;

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:Ephesians 4:15

Having admonished us to become grown up children in the knowledge of the son of God, he now opens up something very important in his first statement “But speaking the truth in love”

First, we are to “speak the truth,” to avoid error and to keep others from error truth must be spoken. The truth on the table does not save anyone, the truth we know and speak saves both us and our hearers. Salvation is activated when our mouths are opened to confess Jesus, when we proclaim the truth.

This phrase “speaking the truth in love” when observed carefully from the Greek and Margin, it actually means “truthing in love.”

It is an announcement that our lives ought to be a manifestation of divine truth, for we live and walk in him who is the truth.

You see, the truth is that you are connected to divinity, and this divine being is reality.

Your reality is the life of God. Your reality is Christ. We have to wake up moment by moment, day by day truthing, speaking forth the truth about who we are in Christ, first to our conscience, then to one another, and further to principalities and powers.

In Christ is no darkness at all. We live in the light where there is no sin, no bondage, no sickness and disease, no lack, no addiction, no depression, only his victorious life and glorious truth in manifestation.

This ought to be our truth, that we live in the son of God where his completeness has satisfied all our needs.

We have been delivered from Satan, sin, the bondage of the law and every other bondage through the knowledge of the son of God. He has abolished death and has brought life and immortality to light.

We are to speak these truths to ourselves in love, fully conscious that God loves us, and then we are to speak the truth to one another in all things and at all times, confirming and edifying each other in love.

When we walk in love toward a neighbour, even before preaching, we have done half of our labour, for only when men are convinced we love them are they won by our truth.

When in the unconditional love of God we keep truthing, we are on a path where we will “grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ”

The aim is Christ, the aim is to be united to him in all his excellencies, to attain to his full stature. To become like him in all things.

Hence, we grow up into him in his faith, in his righteousness, in his holiness, in his health, in his wealth, in his joy, in his peace, in his protection, in his prosperity, in his wisdom, in his power, in his understanding, in all of his beauties.

Then we hear the apostle continue:

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:16

Observe carefully the first statement “from whom the whole body,” the Body of the Church is from Christ. He is the head and the substance of his Body. From him the whole Body originates. He is the head of the Body, and we are the members of this divine Body. This is a mystery.

He provides vital influence, vigor and all his beauties and excellencies to each member.

The same way the head provides vigor, motion and direction to each part of the body, even so is Christ the source of life to his Church. He provides increase to every part.

Every member of the Body have been divinely positioned to supply vigor and beauty to the other. Just as members of our natural bodies are interdependent on each other, so is the body of Christ.

When we all supply energy to each other by functioning in the measure of the dispensation of the life from the source, who is Christ, we make divine increase. We are edifying ourselves in love. We are walking in the love of God.

But where a member fails to function according to purpose, where a member fails to walk in the ordained plan of God for that part of his Body, the entire Body suffers loss, because of the lack of supply from that joint.

There is something in you that the rest of the Body ought to benefit from. You are special, you are vital, so don’t burry your gifting in the ground thinking you are not anointed. I do not believe you will ever think any part of of your body is insignificant so you just need to cut it off and burry.

God created you to profit his kingdom, and maturity means you rise up to your full responsibility in Christ.

Ask yourself dear beloved one, what are you supplying to the Body?

What are we missing from you?

What are those in your circle of influence missing out?

What is the Body going to miss about you when you leave this earthly side to heaven?

What is the master going to commend you for when he returns?

Is it that you existed to survive? Or you contributed your quota to his overall Body?

Don’t be deceived by vain words, you wear the heart of gratitude for what Christ has done when you seek to profit him. Brace up beloved!

Confession:

Blessed father, thank you for the riches you have bestowed on me in Christ. Today I have taken my body, my being from you, you are my life and total existence.

Thank you for my brothers universal, thank you that each of us are as important to each other as members of a divine Body.

As a part of the Body, from my source who is Christ, I refuse to be a hindrance to the increase of the body, but I supply my quota to the expansion of your kingdom.

I proclaim that I am daily being supplied by health, wealth, peace, joy, prosperity, and all your excellencies from my head who is Christ.

Thank you that I am growing up into you in all things, growing up into your wisdom and power, walking in all your possibilities. Thank you gracious Lord for chosen me in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Prophetic Insight:

In an encounter with the Lord, I saw a child of God who God was about to lift up. But I saw this one making meager choices according to foreseen resources. It was as though this one was putting a limit on God.

I saw that the Lord had greater plans than this child could see at this moment by what he was putting in place, then I heard the Lord speak,

“Look beyond your circumstance and see what I AM about to do in your life. Do not limit me by your small expectations, this is not all about you, but all about my glory seen in your life as I fulfill my purpose.

Yes, there is violence, but press on in absolute faith, do not turn back, look neither to the left nor right, for you are receiving a kingdom manifestation you have never seen before.”

Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. Psalms 78:41

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that God gave unto to His Body gifts, generally called the Five-Fold Ministry, whose work in the Church is to doctrinally perfect the saints that they may be able to do the work of the ministry.

Then the apostle continues;

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Ephesians 4:13

Saints are to be doctrinally perfected “till we all come in unity of the faith.”

There is a big distinction between being united in love and coming to the unity of the faith. As saints we are all to be united in love, but we have not come to the unity of the faith yet, hence, certain beliefs we hold still differ.

Amongst us, others believe in salvation through grace. Others in salvation through works. Some in eternal security; trusting that God keeps the believer therefore he can never be totally lost, others believe you can loose your salvation through sin.

But there is a place where we shall be united, a place where the entire church sees Christ as all. A place where there’s no Jew nor Gentile, all diversities are broken off.

Here we don’t see works, we don’t see people, we don’t see a race, we see nothing else, know nothing else, but Christ is all and in all.

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Colossians 3:11

Here we shall be united, we would hold the same truths and confidence in Christ (John 17:21-23).

we would all come to the revelation that Christ is the work of God, Christ is salvation, Christ is our work, Christ is our righteousness, Christ is our holiness, Christ is our sanctification, Christ is our redemption, Christ is the blessings of God, and of a truth, Christ is our faith. This is the unity of the faith.

As long as most of the church still holds unto shadows, we are in unity in the love of the brotherhood, but not in faith. Hence, we are to be perfected until we all come in the unity of faith where we all see and accept Christ as our all.

Here we shall grow up “unto a perfect man.” That is, the reality of who Christ is to us begins to find expression or full manifestation in our lives as we come to perfection in the knowledge of the son of God.

Here we individually and collectively as a church shall attain unto “the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.”

Then we hear the apostle continue:

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Ephesians 4:14

We are daily growing, but we must strive to attain to the full knowledge of the son of God. In the economy of God, he sees nothing when it comes to salvation but Christ. It is the design of God that we grow up to spiritual manhood where we will never be tossed to and fro.

When we have come to a definite spiritual stature in Christ, having begun on a sure foundation, where we are well established in the doctrine of Christ, we shall no longer “be carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness.”

You see, when I was newly born of God, I just wanted to listen to anything listenable bearing God’s name. I would listen to this today and start practising, then the next day I would hear another and leave the former to follow.

My emotions were always up and down like a yo-yo. Then I encountered Christ. The moment I discovered Christ, I discovered the deep truth. I realised the gospel is not mere motivational words, it is not consisted in things ( touch not, taste not, and the many thou shalt nots) but it is a continual discovery of Christ.

Eternal life is a study of the person of God. The fresh discoveries of Christ is what settles every question arising in the hearts of men. It produces peace and sets ablaze the heart.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3

When you know God, who is the substance of all things, you have it all. You are strong and are able to do mighty exploits in the kingdom of God.

“but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” Daniel 11:32

When you don’t know your God, others will give you a false knowledge of what they know about the true God, and because you are not well structured in doctrine, you will always be carried away by every wind of teaching you hear.

Many know church doctrines, but don’t know Christ. Many believe in a denomination, others in their preacher, but they do not intimately know their God.

Beloved, it is risky to go around without a deep knowledge of Christ in this wicked world, for we hear “whereby they lie in wait to deceive.”

There are vultures everywhere today looking for whom to deceive. It is said above they lie in wait to deceive. They are waiting eagerly for an opportunity to lead the simple away.

If you must be strong and able to do exploits, if you must stand during testings and hard trials, then you must leave an elementary knowledge of Christ and seek to be fully established in the knowledge of God.

The deep knowledge of God is not reserved for pastors and teachers alone as many think. It is an error to think only those in leadership should know God well why others remain lame.

All Christians need divine prosperity in all things. We all need the peace of God to govern our lives and this can only come through the word of God dwelling richly in our hearts.

CONFESSION:

Blessed Lord, thank you for the great love with which you have loved me. I am sanctified, set apart, a saint, called out of darkness to know the living God, even my God and maker. Thank you for this grace.

Father I give my entire existence to you. Take my entire life and give me higher knowledge of your son. I have come to realise that unless I know him more, I am much limited in life.

I want to be stable, I want to prosper and be in health even as my soul prospers. I desire to enjoy the overwhelming peace of God. Open my understanding to know you more. Give me a better view of Christ.

Help me to come to the full stature of your son, where I would never be tossed to and fro, never be deceived by the craftiness of wicked men, but will be stable and ever increasing in the knowledge of the son of God, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

PROPHETIC INSIGHT:

In an encounter with the Lord, I saw a child of God. And I saw as the Lord opened a door for this beloved. I saw through this door and I saw the mouth of the enemy speaking from this opened door words of discouragement and words that provoked fear. I turned and looked at this beloved and I saw fear, doubt and uncertainty.

But something happened, all of a sudden I perceived the holy anger of the Lord come upon this beloved as this child of God settled deep within the heart to walk through this door even if it meant death.

As this child of God went through the door, it became known to this beloved that it was a door of blessing and the devil was only a distraction. The fear left and this beloved was actually kicking the devil out of the way with a fearless faith, going on with the Lord in this new door.

Coming out I was led to:

For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries. 1 Corinthians 16:9

Then the Lord said, “Dear Child, do not fear, I AM with you. What you see is actually an open door. The adversary seeks to deceive you. He desires to make you feel your going through this will lead to a dead end.

But look to me and walk in my faith. What you actually see is a door of promotion. A door of life. A door of power and tremendous miracles. You are my righteous one, be bold as a lion, walk through this door and see that the enemy has only lied to you.

Yes, I know what it looks like for you right now, but trust me, for you are right now entering my prosperous will for your life.

Recently the Lord spoke his heart to me about his Church. That many of his gifts to the Body of Christ have left their God-given assignment.

I heard the Lord say “I have given the Church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, but many of my sons have left my purpose.

To teach the saints to know who they are in Christ, what they have in Christ, and what they can do in Christ. The Victorious life of God.
