Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion the power of praise. That we are to praise God in all things for this is the will of God concerning us in Christ, and this still the enemy, it keeps off the avenger.

Then the apostle continues,

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Ephesians 5:21

This is an over to the top rule for all Christians. In a political sense, we are to be subject and to give honour, obedience, tribute to all civil magistrates as authorities ordained by God. When we do so, it is an advantage to our religion. A promotion of our course.

Then in civil relationships, a servant is to be submissive to his master for the sake of religion and not for the sake of any wage. We are the light of the world, living epistles of Christ which the entire world is reading (2Cor. 3:3).

Men can only see God made manifest through us. So whether as servants, we are to always be submissive to authorities as those teaching Christ to the world.

In an economical sense, Children should be subject to their parents, honouring them in all things, being ready to contend with their enemies at the gate; that is to be able to assist them when they become vulnerable.

It is ungodly to be living in luxury while your parents decay in poverty. You see, there are different kinds of blessings, we have the blessings of heaven, blessings of the earth and blessings of the breast and of the womb (Genesis 49: 25-26).

The blessings of the breast and womb can only be released to you from your earthly parents. This is why the new testament still reaffirms that honouring parents comes with a promise (Ephesians 6:2).

In an ecclesiastical sense, members of Churches ought to give double honour to their Pastors as those placed in the highest position of authority in the church, given the greatest gifts, given the highest service and found more faithful.

Yet they are not to be esteemed above the Lord of the Church, and they are not to be esteemed above God’s word. Specifically, double honour is to be reserved for those that labour to bring forth a purified doctrine (1Timothy 5:17).

Then in a marriage institution, the wife is to be subject to the husband and likewise the husband is to be subject to the wife. We will deal with this deeply as we proceed.

Now you may ask, how do I honour those God has placed over me?

You see, many a times we lack the understanding that any authority we are under, God has ordained it and they are serving his purpose, therefore, to dishonour an authority is to directly dishonour God.

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:1

From all the spheres of authority we have discussed, they all are God’s servants at the several jurisdictions.

How do I honour them?

We hear “in the fear of God”

This is a strong statement; this is saying your submission to an authority is directly proportional to your fear of God. What you do to an authority over you is an announcement of your heart condition towards God.

Your level of reverence to God is manifested in your honour to the authorities over you, you cannot say you honour God who you cannot see, and turn around and live in constant disrespect to his authorities over you!

Our society is one way or the other leaving godly values for secularism. There was a time when even nature was a teacher of these values. Today we are slowly leaving divine wisdom to the wisdom of the world, hence, forfeiting blessings we would have walked in.

The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, so to honour in fear of God is divine wisdom. Therefore, it is unwise to not be live in subjection to one another and to the authorities God has placed over us!

Confession

Blessed father, thank you for making me a partaker of your divine nature. I have the mind of Christ, full of honour to God and man. I refuse to walk in the folly of the devil, I refuse to be lifted up in pride and in turn fall into the condemnation of the devil.

I am a branch of the vine, the holiness, humility, righteousness of God flows through me and creation sees God made manifest through me. I refuse to be subject to sickness and diseases , I refuse to be subject to the elements of this world.

I reign in the life of Christ over sin, lack, sickness and disease, failure and all works of darkness. Hallelujah.

Prophetic Insight

At the beginning of the year the Lord gave me a prophetic word for this year that this year is a year of fruitfulness. And the Lord went on to let me know know that this word is in phases.

The first phase is the first half of the year, which the Lord said “ It would be a period where things would die”

But this second half of the year, I heard him say “now is the time to bear much fruit”

As I have stayed with him, he began to explain to me that the things that were to stand against the fulfilment of his promises over us had to die for the new to surface,

I heard him say “in these remaining months of the year, many that have being purged through the fire will experience my glory in their lives beyond what they have ever known!”

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. John 12:23-24

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that we are not to be drunk with strong wine which leads to lasciviousness, however, we are to be filled with the Spirit of the living God, speaking and singing songs of the spirit.

Then we hear the apostle continue,

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Ephesians 5:20

The duty of man at large is for his life to be spent on study and exercise of praise God. We are to be engrossed with thanking God for both temporal and spiritual blessings.

Things temporal as our beings and the preservation of them. Blessing the father for his mercies that knows no bounds, falling on both the righteous and the unrighteous alike.

For our nations and the natural blessings he has bestowed upon them. For our rulers and his providence over them.

For Christ and the riches of his inheritance. Even all spiritual blessings; that we are saved at all out of the millions perishing is because of his electing grace.

That we can be accepted today before the justice of God is because of his justifying grace. That we have been engrafted into sonship today is because of his adopting grace.

That we are washed today and bought out of sin and death is because of his redeeming grace.

That we are sanctified, qualified to be partakers of his inheritance in light, qualified for heaven, enjoying divine pardon for sins — past, present and future — is a thing of God’s free grace. That we have eternal life is the free gift of God’s grace.

Our eternal song ought to be a song of thanksgiving, praise and worship to a lavishing God, a father full of compassion. The liberal God who gives without finding fault.

You see, our opening verse is a continuation from the previous verse on how to be filled with the spirit, hence, thanksgiving is the bedrock behind being full of God.

When we praise God, he inhabits the praises of his people. He dwells within our praises.

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Psalms 22:3

Instead of hosting our problems we can choose to host our all sufficient God.

Now observe carefully from our anchor scripture that we are to thank God “always,” and for what things are we to thank God? We hear “all things”

Not just when things look good on the outside, but for all things, no matter how they look, we are to give God praise for everything, good or seemingly bad, and when we do, we host God right in the middle of the crisis.

Most times we often think, how can my praise to God help me out of the enemies hand? I need to always be chasing the devil out of my portion rather!

Beloved, chasing the devil out is crucial, however, there is a better way to chase him out with ease and your heart full of faith. When you praise God, he lives in what you pronounce him to be and the enemy is silenced in your life;

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. Psalms 8:2

God has ordained that when we praise him instead of praising our circumstances, he will stop the enemy, even the avenger.

This is why praises make the devil mad. As long as he can keep you quiet by overwhelming you with cares, he will do so, so you don’t chase him out.

Imagine you praise God all day, imagine you have God inhabiting every fiber of your being as all your words and actions are all to the praise of the riches of his grace.

However, you desire to know how to praise God well. Yes that’s a good desire.

When we speak in tongues the Bible says “thou verily givest thanks well” (1Corinthians 14:7).

Nothing is left out when we speak in tongues.

One time I was casting a demon out of a young man, and as I laid my hand upon him the power of God hit him and he fell as the demon kept struggling to stay in his body, as I saw him on the floor crawling, all I could do was just speak in tongues.

As I spoke in tongues for just a couple of minutes the demon left and the young man was whole.

How did it happen without screaming and yelling at the devil?

By speaking in tongues, for when we praise God in tongues everything is embedded in the mystery of our tongues even the casting out of demons. God stills the enemy!

The Spirit searches all things and makes all things work together for our good!

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:27-28

Confession

Blessed father I thank you for all the provisions of your grace upon my life. I praise you for uniting me with Christ where all your promises are yes and amen.

Thank you for the ever increasing life of Christ made manifest in my flesh, finances, and every aspect of my life.

I give you thanks because I am the body of God in Christ Jesus, full of life and vitality, I am the wisdom of God in Christ, the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus — walking only paths of righteousness for your glory and here my cup overflows.

I give you thanks for everything that pertains to my life, because you have already given me all things that pertains to life and godliness through the knowledge of the Christ, Hallelujah!

Prophetic Insight

In an encounter with the Lord, I heard “Dear child, I love you more than what you can do for me. I am more interested in the growth and stability of your heart in my peace than in what you can do for me.

Your times are in my hands and not one moment of the glory I have reserved for you will be lost. Let my patience have its way in you as you see me as your inheritance.

The blessing I have already given to you, and you shall inherit it. But I hear the questions in your heart rising, ‘how shall I inherit this, seeing it looks like I do not have what it takes to see this happen?’

Beloved, I have given myself to as your assurance, My Spirit in you is the guarantee. He is the pledge of all I have promised you. As long as my Spirit is with you, be rest assured that my covenant upon your life stands, and you will surely walk in all the blessings.”

“My times are in Your hands..” — Ps 31:15

“‘As for the promise which I made with you when you came out of Egypt, My Spirit stands [firm and immovable] and continues with you; do not fear!'” — Hag 2:5

“The Spirit is the guarantee [the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory.” — Eph 1:14

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that we are to rise from spiritual slumber, walking circumspectly in the will of God, not as fools but as those who are the wisdom of God in Christ.

Then we hear the apostle continue;

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Ephesians 5:18

The Lord forbids excessive and immoderate drinking of every description. The word used above for excess is the Greek word asōtia and it means profligacy or lasciviousness (Strong’s G810).

This is saying strong drink opens the door to lasciviousness. It opens the door to every work of the flesh.

It attacks the mind, memory and sound judgment, impoverishes proper reason and abases a man below a beast.

It wastes men’s estates, renders men unfit for business and duty, brings sickness and disease, exposes to shame and danger, O’ liquor opens the door to every kind of sin, so it must be avoided.

Strong liquor is here contrasted to being filled with the Holy Spirit because whatsoever unrealistic promise liquor offers the Holy Spirit has the reality.

Strong wine, beer and cider promise comfort and relief from fear, depression, anxiety and whatsoever, but the Holy spirit is the true comforter.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; John 14:16

He doesn’t put you in an illusion only to wake up and see your problems still facing you, but he empowers you to face your challenges in his peace and guarantees the victory.

This is why he is opposed to excessive drinking. Strong drink promises relief and comfort it does not have the power to produce.

However, the Holy Spirit is the only life giving Spirit. Liquor promises inspiration, but the Holy Spirit teaches you all things;

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

Many a people think liquor gives power, but the Holy Spirit brings true eternal power;

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you..” Acts 1:8

Liquor produces a counterfeit of what the Holy Spirit genuinely offers. Therefore, we are not to leave reality to falsehood, but are rather to be continuously filled with the Spirit.

O’ how sweet it is to be full of God. Where you are drunk with joy, peace, wisdom, power, glory to a point you cannot help but live in the supernatural. A place where you are controlled by divinity.

You don’t need comedy or entertainment to be joyful, but be filled with the Spirit and joy and peace is a by-product of being filled with the Spirit. Joy and and peace will naturally overflow for the kingdom of God is righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17).

Now you may ask, how do I become drunk with the Holy Spirit?

We hear the next verse answering;

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:19

The pivotal key here to being filled with the Holy Spirit is to speak! You take upon you divine utterance by speaking forth the word of God.

You speak to yourself or you fellowship with one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Spiritual songs could be singing in tongues. Or you could just speak in tongues while making melody in your heart with songs of the Spirit.

Now observe carefully this qualification “spiritual songs,” as opposed to carnal or revelry songs.

A lot of the things we have today in our church circle are just carnal songs in the name of God. I listen to a lot of songs and I am trying to hear the good news of the cross, the riches of his death, burial and resurrection, and a lot of times what I hear is –me, myself and I in the name of God! Junk repetitions.

There are no youth songs, neither do we have songs for the old, but we have only one category of songs, which is spiritual songs.

Singing about how you are a made person in the name of God is not how the fathers sang, and it is not Biblical.

The word of God contains one message, and from this one message we have only one song and that song is Jesus.

Anything outside of Christ is not a message from God and should be kept outside of the church for worldly entertainment.

The church is not an entertainment ground, but the pillar of truth. A place where the doctrinaires of faith are rightly divided.

I am amazed to see the prophecy of Charles Spurgeon being fulfilled in our day. He said;

A time will come when instead of shepherds feeding the sheep, the church will have clowns entertaining the goats –Charles Spurgeon 1834-1892.

Nowadays comedians are hired to entertain goats in churches. Whole churches are just entertainment grounds. Entertainment and motivational speaking is the rev of the day.

No thorough doctrinal balancing, instead of us being filled with the Spirit we are busy being filled with the world.

I say this from a personal experience, I sing and when I got turned to the Lord, I turned everything over to Jesus.

However, I had friends who claimed to be born of God years before I came to the Lord and I thought they were to be matured in him at the time, but most of them came to me with advises like I should not be too spiritual with my songs if I am to go into music. That it doesn’t sell much nowadays.

I could just look at them and see how most Christians are just headed in the opposition direction. Busy chasing carnality in the name of God!

But this ought not to be so, we are a spiritual people. God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings, and for us to walk in them, we must be filled with the Spirit. O’ may we ever remain hungry to always be full of God.

Confession.

Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit, He is my comforter, my guide, my friend, teacher, my wisdom and power.

I am an epistle written with the Spirit of the Lord and not with ink. My health, finances, career, marriage, ministry is writing with the life of God.

Therefore, I am full of health and vitality, I walk In divine life and prosperity by the Spirit of the Almighty. All my actions are actions of the Spirit of God, hence, I can never fail.

As I rejoice and declare your mighty works upon my life, I am filled with Joy, peace , wisdom and power by the Spirit of the Lord.

Prophetic Insight.

In an encounter of the Lord, I saw the workings of God upon the life of a Child of God, but I saw that this very work was contrary to general perception, and not what this child of God expected at this time, hence a fallen countenance.

As I saw this, I heard the Lord speak “This is not a disappointment but a set up for the manifestation of my glory. Though now you see no good in this, as you only see shame.

However, I say to you dear one, this same affliction is working for you a new weight of glory.

This is not what you think, remain faithful — you are not going down, and you will not see shame.

This is not going to overcome you, this is a light affliction meant to promote my work upon your life”

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that we are trees of righteousness and our fruit is consisted in all kinds of goodness, righteousness and truth. We are made manifest through the fruit of light.

Then we hear the apostle continue;

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Ephesians 5:14

This exhortation is not directed to unregenerate men as though men have the capacity to rise from spiritual death themselves, however, this is made to men who are regenerated.

Why do I say this? Observe the word “wherefore” used upon the forgoing discourse and citation. In context he has being addressing believers whom he calls light in the Lord (Ephesians 5:8).

Now you may ask, pastor, can a Christian be raised from the dead again after they have risen with Christ?

Intelligent question, you see, death has manifold forms, and in context the apostle has being admonishing the believer to be spiritually minded, walking in all goodness, righteousness and truth, hence those that do otherwise are carnally minded which is to walk in death.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6

Observe carefully that it does say to be carnally minded tends to death or leads to death but to “be carnally minded is death” itself.

So this is the death Christ seeks to revive the believer who is asleep from. The death of ignorance, pride, hardheartedness , strife, unforgiveness, bitterness, prayerlessness, passivity towards spiritual things, and every other unfruitful work of darkness.

If we are down in any unfruitful work, we are to arise, for our light has come. From the strength of God resident in our spirit, we are to arise, for our light has come and the glory of God is now risen upon us in Christ (Isaiah 60:1).

Then we hear;

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Ephesians 5:15

The Greek word used above for circumspectly is the word akribōs meaning exactly ( Strong’s G199).

It means to walk precisely, diligently and intelligently. Light has come and the Lord is ready to manifest light unto our path as we follow after him, walking diligently and “not as fools, but as wise.”

There is great evil in walking in foolishness, we hear;

The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city. Ecclesiastes 10:15

The foolish and unwise do not walk in the light of God’s word so they can never get to the city. How to get to the city is reserved for those that follow the will of God. The city could be God’s purpose for you in health, finances, marriage, career or ministry.

It is unwise for us to wallow long in foolishness not knowing or following God’s will, for we hear;

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:16

There is no time, we are to buy back the wasted years with every opportunity in front of us, for we live in evil days, and what lies ahead if we do not walk wisely now in God’s counsel, is doom.

So the apostle says;

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:17

They are many who don’t know for sure God’s will for their lives,— that’s not wisdom beloved. And they are many who know but are relaxed, not pursing it, thinking there is ample time, however, that’s not scriptural and not inspired by God.

How can you be relaxed and waiting when the word of God says the days are already evil? we are to redeem every second.

I have a personal biblical perception of a solid Christian; show me a Christian who knows God’s will for their lives, who is pursuing it and I will show you an uncompromising Christian.

However, show me a Christian who doesn’t know God’s will or who isn’t pursuing God’s will and I will show you a Christian who can easily compromise at any given opportunity (Colossians 1:9-10).

When we walk in all manner of unfruitful works it is because we are often ignorant of God’s best plans for us. I have seen where God desires me to be in life and I am ready to die pursuing it.

I am ready to give away whatsoever will be a hindrance on my way to experiencing the glorious will of God upon my life being fulfilled.

Not because God will curse me if i do, but because I have seen my unmatched inheritance in the will of God, and nothing compares to it (Ephesians 1:18-20).

This is why we are not to be unwise, but “understanding what the will of the Lord is.”

Beloved, you desire to walk in great wisdom?

You desire to see a fulfilled life?

You desire all things to work together for your good?

Then you must understand the will of God for you and begin to walk circumspectly in it, for all things only work together for the good of those that will love the Lord so much as to abandon their lives for his purpose for them in the redemptive plan of the chosen.

Confession

I am the glory of Christ, a partaker of the unsearchable riches of Christ. I am an heir of God and joint—heirs with Christ. I have an inheritance in God, therefore, I refuse to be fooled by the intangible promises of worldly pleasures.

Father, by your Spirit, I submit my life to you, where I have been asleep, wake me up out of spiritual slumber. Let your light shine upon my heart, open my eyes to see my purpose in you, for therein lies my inheritance.

I refuse to loose time, I am the wisdom of God in Christ, therefore I reject the foolishness of labouring without knowing how to get to the city.

I walk circumspectly, diligently, wisely in God’s counsel over my life, and in this place, all things are working together for my good.

Prophetic Insight

In an encounter of the Lord, I heard the Lord say “I am The Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and the ending, I began this good work in you, and my last word to you is this, I am The end of the journey and not your circumstance. What you fear cannot stop what I am doing in your life.

I have never asked help of any one before, so do not think I am asking you to help me out, but I say to you child, rest in my love, for I am the one doing all my pleasure upon your life.

I have spoken my word over you and that is the end. My counsel stands, what I have said, I will also bring to pass. Walk fearlessly, for as I have purposed The blessing, I am also doing it, I am bringing every promise to pass in your life.”

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. Prophetic Teaching & Prophecy
May 25, 2021.

Discovering Christ in Ephesians.

We saw from our last discussion Paul’s manner of admonition to the new creation; that we are already light, all we have to do is to walk as children of light in our loving God.

Then we hear the apostle continue;

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Ephesians 5:9

For the fruit of light as the proceeding verse rather shows. The believer is a tree of righteousness (Isaiah 61:3); Christ is the root and the Spirit the sap, nourishing and supporting the production of fruit in the life of the Christian.

As long as a believer is connected to the root and deriving nourishment, we bear fruit naturally. Fruit is a proclamation that we are trees of righteousness, and not a criterion for becoming trees of righteousness.

A Mango tree bears mango fruits and not coconut fruits, because of its nature. There is nothing a coconut tree can do on its own to bear mango fruits. However, without struggle the mango tree naturally bears mango fruits for it is imbedded in the nature of the tree. Even so it is with the Christian.

Now observe carefully it is said the “fruit of the Spirit “ not the fruit of your efforts, but the workings of the Spirit of life in a mortal man. The produce of the work of the Spirit.

We can’t produce these fruits, we can only depend on the Spirit to do his work in us.

We need to consciously wear in mind that bearing fruit is a testimony that we are trees of righteousness and not a qualification for righteousness or heaven.

This simple truth is the bedrock for a sound doctrinal balancing, but it is an offence to those in ignorance.

As a spiritual people, what kind of fruit do we bear? We hear “all goodness and righteousness and truth”

All kinds of goodness, every thing righteous, walking in all natural and spiritual truth.

Then we hear the apostle continue;

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. Ephesians 5:10

By walking as children of light we teach creation the things acceptable unto our God.
We are the manifestation of God on the earth even as Christ was God manifest in flesh.

There are things acceptable unto God, the person of Christ and his sacrifice for us, his sufferings, death, righteousness and many more are pleasing and acceptable to God.

We are also accepted in the beloved, and our sacrifices are also accepted. Our Christian duties and general spiritual conduct is acceptable unto God. Our sufferings for his name, our sacrifices of prayer and praise are now accepted unto God.

When everything about our lives is a living worship unto God, creation sees the manifestation of the things accepted by our God.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Ephesians 5:11

Observe carefully the above statement “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness”

It is not said with ‘the workers of darkness or those who are called darkness themselves’.

The word of God does not forbid us from having civil fellowship with unregenerate men. We are to eat with them, work among them, live among them, but we are not to be partakers of their actions.

Their actions bear no fruit, they yield nothing of eternal value. We must beware of joining or assisting those who do wrong. Dissimulation and connivance are often overlooked since many claim we are not the actual perpetrators.

We are to stand far from giving consent, advice, approbation, or assistance to any course or action that is contrary to righteousness. If we do we have fellowship with the works of darkness.

Then we hear “ rather reprove them,” confute, admonish, expose or drag to the light as the metaphor “darkness” supposes. But why?

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. Ephesians 5:12

The works of darkness are demeaning and shameful. They add no moral value, no spiritual consequence, and only lead to death. The objective is to kill, still, and destroy no matter how we weigh the offence or motives behind.

However, the sons of God are manifest through the fruit of light.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Ephesians 5:13

Only light makes things manifest. To make manifest it is light. Whatsoever work is exposed by light becomes light. This is saying every good work we see under heaven is a manifestation of God, for there is only one that is good.

So when we as sons of light manifest the fruit of light which is in all kinds of goodness, righteousness and truth, we prove that we are light and creation sees God made manifest through us.

Confession.

I am a tree of righteousness, the manifestation of divine truth, an expression of divinity. I am in him who is light, my life is the expression of the glory of God.

I reject every unfruitful work of darkness, and I proclaim I have no fellowship with darkness.

I reject unrighteousness, malice, unforgiveness, envy, pride, lies, hypocrisy, poverty, sickness, disease.

I proclaim I am the light of the world in Christ, and in me dwells no work of darkness at all. Glory to God!

Prophetic Insight

I saw a great deliverance upon a child of God who had come to the end of the road. I saw this one face to face with what seemed like the end, but I saw the hand of God snatch this beloved out and they rode off.

Coming out the Lord began to speak and say “You have waited long, you have felt deserted, you have truly suffered, you have come face to face with what you thought was the end of my plans for you, but this is just the beginning.

For not turning back, you have passed the test and I have turned your captivity. This is the time and the moment of your promotion. Do not ask or reason how I am doing this, only stay faithful as I give you the increase.

It is time to move forward in my purposes upon your life. I have broken the barrier you have long fought against, rest dear child, I am now settling you.”

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 1 Peter 5:10

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that as God has freely, fully and liberally forgiven us, so are we to forgive a brother that errs against us.

Then we heard the apostle continue;

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; Ephesians 5:1

Observe carefully the word “therefore” in the above verse, a connection to the previous chapter opening up a conclusion drawn from that discussion.

The subject of the previous verse was an admonition for us to walk in the spirit of love and kindness, forgiving our offenders in the same manner God for Christ sake has forgiven us. Then we hear ”be ye therefore followers of God.”

The Greek word used above for followers is the word mimētēs and it means an imitator (Strong’s G3402).

This is far beyond just being a friend of God, far beyond just following, but an active participation in whatsoever the father does.

God is a loving father, full of grace and compassion. Because of who he is, he does what he does. God cannot help but be good, for he is Good. because he is love, he loves and changes not.

As beneficiaries of the life of Christ, we are to be imitators of our father, doing only those things we see him do.

Not so we can become forgiven, not so we can become children of God but “as dear children “

Then the apostle continues;

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Ephesians 5:2

“And walk in love,” let all your deportment and conversations be that which becomes a child with the spirit of love.

This is what it means to walk in the spirit, and it is the key to opening the door to hearing God’s voice in our hearts. God is love and when we walk in love, we are walking in the Spirit.

“as Christ also hath loved us.” You see, today the Christian walk is just to ask ‘how does God treat me?’ once we find the answer, therein lies our manner of conduct.

So how does God treats us?

we hear “and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”

What speaks for us is the sacrificial life of Christ, a sweet smelling savour before the Almighty. God treats our faults, sorrows and griefs by the sacrifice of himself.

The value he has placed on us is nothing less than his own very life. Don’t be deceived, you are valued, you are worth the life of God.

Then the apostle continues;

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Ephesians 5:3

Observe carefully the last statement “as becometh saints,“ not so we could be saints.

The Greek word used here for saints is the word hagios and it means to be sacred (physically pure, morally blameless or religious ceremonially consecrated) (Strong’s G40).

I have picked this out because most times we often pick little statements out of context and make whole false doctrines.

Fornication, all uncleanness, covetousness, all these odious and abominable vices are not to be mentioned amongst us because we are sacred, a people purified by the blood of Jesus. Not so we could become saints, and not so we could be admitted into heaven.

Observe these following verses and notice the last statement;

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Ephesians 5:4-6

The last statement is often used to put believers in bondage to the fear of a religious angry god, “for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.”

It does not say the wrath of God comes upon “dear children” or “saints” as we have being observing in context, but upon the children of disobedience.

We are not the children of disobedience, for we have obeyed the gospel which has made us the children of God. All these fruits are not the fruit of our Spirit and this is why we are told;

Be not ye therefore partakers with them. Ephesians 5:7

We are not to be partakers of these lowest and debasing vices because we are now a holy nation, a peculiar people. A people created with the life and nature of God. We have left that common manner of life, and even so are we told;

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: Ephesians 5:8

A perfect admonition by the apostle. This is how to admonish believers without condemnation. Those are things of our past life, a believer is not to labeled with a sinner’s identity.

We are already light, already children of the Almighty, already seated with Christ in the heavenly.

We used to be darkness, but are now light in the Lord Jesus Christ, and we are to walk as children of light, and not as those who are still under the wrath of God.

Confession

Good Lord, father of lights, blessed be your name. I am a Child of a loving God, born out of God’s love, a seed of love. I declare I have the ability in Christ to be a living imitation of my father.

As I see my father work, even so I do, for I am a sacred being, a holy vessel, recreated in Christ Jesus unto good works.

My life is a manifestation of the nature of Christ. I proclaim, the life of Christ is made manifest in my spirit, soul and body, producing health, vitality, godly conduct, prosperity and peace.

Prophetic Insight

In an encounter with the Lord, I heard “Why are you overwhelmed? why have you begun to give in to what your eyes are seeing?

Have you forgotten I began this good work in you? Do not be self centered, look at the lives that are tied to what you are doing. Many have faith that I am with you, even as I have counted you faithful.

There is nothing behind you. It is just an imagination I have not given reality to. Do not be deceived, you have lost nothing, you will lose nothing, for in loosing your life in this, you will find my life.

Be content but hopeful, be patient in your trials, stand strong in faith, for the Spirit of glory is upon you.”

“Do ye look on things after the outward appearance?” 2 Corinthians 10:7a

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; 1 Timothy 1:12

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 10:39

But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.1 Peter 4:13-14

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that we are sealed by the Holy Spirit, owned and vacuum packed, authenticated, secured until the coming of the Lord, thus, knowing what has been wrought in us we ought not to grieve the Holy Spirit.

Then we hear the apostle continue;

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

The statement “And be ye kind one to another” admonishes the believer to be affable, mild, good, courteous, polite, toward the members of the Christian brotherhood.

A truly reformed soul is benignant. True Christianity produces courteousness. There is no true religion in rudeness, hatred, stiffness, repulsiveness or misanthropic temper, but the courtesy of a genuine Christian is renovated by philanthropy.

So we are admonished to treat everyone with kindness, being “tenderhearted,” which is opposed to being hardhearted. We are to show compassion and pity toward an erring brethren, we are to be close at hand to them that are needy not putting on a censorious spirit, but bearing with them that are weak and overtaken.

Then we hear ‘‘forgiving one another.” If the apostle had ended his admonition here it would have been pretty good. But he goes on to explain the manner or model to which we are to forgive one another.

We hear “forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

If we are to forgive one another even as God forgave us, then the question is this, how did God forgive us?

First, God forgave us FREELY: There was no merit on our side for God to forgive us. There was nothing we could do to deserve or earn his forgiveness. God did not even wait for us to repent or tender an apology before forgiving us, but we hear,

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

God was not waiting for an apology from us before he would forgive us. We were still blaspheming God, while we were still cursing and chewing, God loved us so much as to give his own very life for the very one who was at enmity with him.

This is where we don’t see most times. When we are offended, we feel those that offend us are under obligation to ask us for forgiveness before we would forgive.

We entrap our hearts in bitterness, praying things shouldn’t go on well with them so they can return and apologize to us so we can be loosed from our bondage of unforgiveness.

This is not so with the God-kind of love. God has forgiven the entire world, the only thing left to do is to receive the forgiveness made available by the cross of Christ. This is the manner we are to forgive, we are not to sit back in bitterness waiting for an apology.

If we are given an apology, praise God, but it is not a basis for forgiveness.

Second, God forgave us FULLY: God did not pick and choose which sins to forgive. He has forgiven us all our offences, past, present and future by the one time death of his son. All our trespasses are forgiven not minding the magnitude. Our innumerable sins are Liberally forgiven. Even so are we to forgive.

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Colossians 2:13

Third, God did not forgive us for our sakes, He loved us but forgave us for the SAKE OF CHRIST. This is why his forgiveness is unwavering and eternal. Even so are we to forgive.

Whenever we offend, he looks at the sacrifice of Christ and for Christ’s sake, his forgiveness flows to us.

How good or bad people are aren’t the basis for us forgiving them. When it comes to forgiving those that err against us, they are totally obliterated.

It is only left for us to say the sacrifice of Christ does not suffice our forgiving them.

You see, the wages of sin is death, if we can pay for the least of our sins, then we are qualified to be unforgiving towards others, but if we dare not go to the cross for our sins, then we are to reserve unqualified forgiveness to all those that err against us.

Confession.

Blessed Lord, thank you for this gift of forgiveness of sins. The vicarious death and victorious resurrection of Christ has procured for me the free, full and liberal forgiveness of sins from my Holy God.

As a partaker of the nature of God, having a heart of flesh and a new Spirit, the love of God is flowing from my heart and releasing forgiveness to all those that err against me.

I have tender heart, a compassionate Spirit, disposed to love, kindness, and longsuffering. I walk in love and forgiveness, overcoming evil with the goodness of Christ. Hallelujah!

Prophetic Insight.

In an encounter of the Lord I heard “Do not be weary, though you see your faith as being weak, it is mighty in my sight. Your little labours are producing sounds of glory in heaven.

Do not faint in the good work I have placed in your heart to do. Do not give in to vain reasonings, you will not be mocked, your season of harvest will surely come”

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that Christian’s are to labour, not just to meet their needs, but the main object is to give to him that is in need.

Then we hear the apostle continue,

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30

Observe the statement “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God,” the word translated for grieve here is the Greek word lupeō which means to distress, to be sad (Strong’s G3076)

This does not literally mean the Holy Spirit is always in a mood swing in us, as we sometimes do not do things the way he would have us do. Not that he is literary pained at our going astray as though he is so fragile and can be heart broken.

The Holy Spirit is the power and fire of God. He is the eternal and all powerful being. Thus this statement is made to relate to our human minds our relationship with him; the same way a friend feels sorrowful when evil is done against him, same way we should view all ungodly conducts as making the Holy one grieve.

Whatsoever the Holy Spirit does not brook or put up with is viewed as grieving the Holy Spirit. This statement is made to bring to our recognition the need for intimate relationship with the Spirit.

They way many have viewed this scripture for long is as though we are the ones protecting the Holy Spirit. They make it look as if the Holy Spirit is so fragile like a new born baby we must daily be fighting to protect. This is not what is meant as stated further “whereby ye are sealed”

The Spirit is rather the one who has sealed us. The word translated for seal here is the Greek Word sphragizo indicating ownership, authentication, permanency, security and destination ( Strong’s G4972, Vine’s Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words.)

We are not trying to secure the Holy Spirit, we are not trying to own him, he has secured us, we are vacuum packed by the Holy Spirit.

We have also misunderstood this statement, many say when we grieve the Holy Spirit he leaves us. So don’t grieve him, when you grieve him he leaves. This is what I was taught in my early Christian life. All these teachings do not match scripture, they are just additions to God’s word.

It does not say grieve not the Holy Spirit of God who if you do will leave you, but we hear, “whereby ye are sealed” and for how long? “unto the day of redemption “

We are sealed; permanently owned, authenticated, secured, and the destination is unto the day of the redemption of our purchased bodies. Until Christ comes back to redeem us from this earthly tabernacles, the Holy Spirit is the one securing us.

Now this is it, not grieving the Holy Spirit is an act of gratitude for all the Lord has done for us. Without the seal, there never would have been a way for us to be kept sacred, secured, and authenticated for heaven and all the blessings of God.

He is the pledge, the foretaste, the guarantee of our inheritance (Ephesians 1:14).

To indulge in conducts that would bring displeasure to the Holy One is to show contempt for what the Lord has done. It is to devalue the work of God for and in you. This is ingratitude.

Now you may ask, how do I avoid grieving the Holy Spirit?

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: Ephesians 4:31

These are but a few. The Holy Spirit loves to rejoice over you. Seek to know him and enjoy deep intimacy with him. His is the custodian of the deep secrets of God. He is our father, friend, lover, protector, and guide.

Confession.

Father I thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit, I am not an orphan, I am not alone. I have a comforter, one who is called to my side, the one you have given to be with me even forever, the Holy Spirit.

I pour out my gratitude to you for this unspeakable gift. I obtain grace from your throne to live a lifestyle most pleasing to the Holy Spirit. I distance my thoughts and actions from anything that would make it look as though I devalue your gift to me.

I ask for a deeper revelation of the Holy Spirit that will deepen my relationship with him. Thank you blessed Lord for always hearing me, in Jesus’ name Amen!

Prophetic Insight.
In an encounter of the Lord, I heard “Do not go back on my word, My word is truth and not your circumstance. Do not give in to despair, rise up and rejoice!

Do not live your life on your experience, but on my word. Hold on to my word despite what you see.

Just a few days ago your heart saw and you were rejoicing in my promise. What your heart believed and was glad for, you shall have.

Reject the pressure, for it has come because of my promise. Persevere! Reject despondency, stay in hope. For you will surely testify of my goodness.”

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 2 Corinthians 5:7

Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. Matthew 13:21

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that we are not to allow anger have it’s way in our lives, for it opens the door for the enemy to attack our lives.

Then we hear the apostle continue:

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Ephesians 4:28

Theft, a universal pagan vice for self-aggrandization. The unbelieving world is a place everyone is out to please the flesh, self-comfort is a trigger toward procuring earthly good.

But as for us, we are a Christ generation, a selfless people who ought to put away pilfering. Then we hear something very important “but rather let him labour”

Christianity is a religion that promotes industry. It is intended that evey Christian have some means of support, a calling, business or profession and not to be lazy.

Our Lord Jesus was a carpenter, Paul a tent maker. There is no disgrace in labour. There is no shame in making a shoe, constructing a house or making a tent.

It has been said that it is very hard to see a lazy man accept Christianity, but when he does, he seizes to be lazy and becomes industrious as the Christian religion begins to transform his mind.

Then we hear “working with his hands the thing which is good”

The kind of work we are to be engaged in is here specified “that which is good”

Whatsoever will not help a man on his way to heaven ought not to be ventured into by a child of God.

A shoemaker provides shoes to warm the feet and to protect from bruises. This is good and helpful to man on his way to heaven.

The vendor of intoxicating drink helps no man but aids men on their way to hell. We are to avoid whatsoever is injurious to man, but to work that which is good.

But why? “That he may have to give him that needeth”

This defies the mentality of our former animal nature. Where we were inclined to working so we could meet our needs, we are here admonished that the reason we are to labour is to meet the needs of others.

We are to look beyond ourselves to seeking the well being of others. This doesn’t mean we are not to support ourselves, but a truly transformed Christian has committed the keeping of himself to Christ and is out to lay down his life for others.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 2 Timothy 1:12

Again observe;

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren, But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 1 John 3:16-17

Wrong teachings make Christianity all about personal comfort. Christ the author of our faith lived and died for others. The apostles who are the pillars of the church all died for others. It is very irritating the kind of Christianity been practised today.

If you would keenly observe a lot of things that many are depressed about today, a huge percentage is all about self-comfort.

Are you labouring just so you could meet the needs of others or its all about me, myself and I?

Oh beloved, we are a transformed people, we are dead to that old animal nature. We are to live unto God and others.

Then we hear the apostle continue;

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

Unwholesome talk, that which is corrupt, an obscene and filthy conversation is what prevails in the pagan world.

But since we have come out of that putrefied world, let our conversion be that which becomes the God-kind creation.

Words are powerful, they can give life or produce death. Our words ought to build people up to take on their inheritance. And the words that build are here specified, words that “minister grace” to our hearers.

Words that minister the unconditional love of God. Words that minister the free favour of God upon the unqualified.

Confession.
Loving father I thank you for the beauties of Christ upon my life. As an heir of Christ, an heir of the authority in the name of Jesus. I take charge over my life. I speak divine alignment to every course of my life.

I speak o every system in my being, to my spirit, soul and body I command all things in my life to respond and align to the good, accepted and perfect will of God for me in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

Prophetic Insight.
In an encounter of the Lord, I heard “I am releasing a wisdom that will cause you to build beyond what you have expected. Where you have been weary there is a strength coming upon you that will cause you attain heights in me that will announce my blessings upon your life.

It’s not about the standard of the world, its not about what they think should be, but what I know is good for you my child.

Stand strong! The foundation of your life has been strengthened through this, and I AM now giving you the wisdom, knowledge and understanding needed for the establishment of my promises over your life.

Your life is a house I have always desired to show forth my glory. As you continue to follow my leadings, staying faithful and looking to my grace, what I have prepared will soon be made manifest.”

Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Proverbs 24:3-4

Discovering Christ In Ephesians

We saw from our last discussion that we are now in Christ. Created righteous and truly holy. We are to wear who we are in our consciousness and walk in righteousness and holiness as a manifestation of our nature.

Then the apostle continues;

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Ephesians 4:25

This is stressed in this chapter because he who was once a liar, even after conversion would be tempted to fall back into that lifestyle except his mind is renewed to who he now is.

Since we have put away the old man, since we have put off our former conversation, an old way of living, we are here admonished that from the righteousness of the new man, let truth flow and let falsehood be kept aside.

We are to “speak every man truth with his neighborhour,” but why should we speak truth to each other?

We hear “for we are members of one another.”

The reason is not for us to do so we could become partakers of Christ, but because we already are members of one body, even the body of Christ. This is pivotal as many of us have been taught the other way round.

We are brought up with a mentality of works-salvation where we do things to earn a blessing from God, but knowing who we are in Christ changes everything.

Falsehood tends to loosen the bonds of brotherhood. When we were pagans, this was a universal lifestyle amongst us. But today, when we lie to another, we lie to ourselves, we rather put a hindrance to the growth of our own kingdom, even the growth of our own spiritual body.

The same way the members of our body do count on each other, the eye never thinking the hand will deceive it, neither does the hand think otherwise, so are we to maintain harmony and spiritual confidence among ourselves.

Then we hear;

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Ephesians 4:26

There is a godly anger and an ungodly anger. Anger against sin is godly, against spiritual things is sinful and ungodly.

Anger dwells even in God as we can see from his displeasure against sin, emptying his wrath upon his own son on the cross for all our sins.

We also know it dwelt in Christ, as he uttered woes to cities that rejected him, as he made a whip and dislodged the money changers in the temple. God’s kind of anger is holy anger.

You see, anger is a common trait in us. When an accident happens or when something negative we do not plan for happens, anger is excited in us. It could be toward self defence, attack or revenge.

When these emotions are excited and we deal with the resultant effect, we have destroyed the sin in the anger. But when we allow it to have it’s effects, the wrath of man works not the righteousness of God.

Harbouring the seeds of a negatively excited emotion over a long period of time is strife that develops strongholds, and opens the door for every evil work.

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. James 3:16

This is why we must guard our heart against anger. In fact we are told “let not the sun go down upon your wrath,” do not allow it to take root is what is meant here.

The devil easily gains entrance into our lives to destroy our bodies, cause depression, destroy beautiful relationships that would have excelled if governed by forgiveness, when he lays unnecessary burdens upon our hearts. This is why we hear the admonition;

Neither give place to the devil. Ephesians 4:27

It costs more to walk in anger than to forgive. I am yet to see a Christian that would love the mission of the devil to be fulfilled in his or her life (to kill, steal, and destroy).

Don’t rent the devil space in your life through anger or vengeance. Leave vengeance to God. There are tremendous benefits when we show mercy. Our spirit, soul and body experiences the peace and goodness of God.

The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh. Proverbs 11:17

May we walk in love, enjoy God’s peace and keep the devil out of our lives.

Confession.

Glorious father, blessed be your name. Thank you for making me a fruit of Christ’s resurrection. A product of divine excellence. The Life of Jesus was given for me to live full of health, honour, power and excellence.

I am Child of light. I walk in Truth. I walk in love. I walk in divine wisdom. I am not a sinner trying to do righteous works, but I am righteous and good works are flowing out of God’s righteousness in me. I Am victorious over Satan, sin, sickness and disease. Hallelujah!

Prophetic Insight.

In an encounter with the Lord, I saw a child of God who has been faithful in stewarding the word of God over this one’s life despite what looked like a hopeless situation.

I saw the Lord appear and spoke this word “because you have been faithful in the midst of trials, I have given you all the resources you need”

When I heard this I was surrounded with awe and a satisfaction came over me which seemed like the door of a long awaited expectation is now thrown open in the spirit by the Lord.

Then further, I saw the Lord restoring things in the lives of many, things were coming back to life and in the midst of the shock in the hearts God’s people, since many had become weary not knowing God’s heart toward them, I heard him say “I AM doing this so you will know I am your father”

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. John 14:20
